The EMS Chief holds the highest authority in the Med-Act organization and maintains the other functional departments in balance. The EMS Chief effectively delegates some of his authority and decision making by empowering the employees and forming formal workgroup teams of individuals.
The functional portions of the organization are departmentalized into formal work divisions:
- Administrative Division
- Educational Division
- Operations Division (including Battalion Chiefs, Captains, Lieutenants, Paramedics, and EMT's)
- Special Operations Division (composed of various Special Operations teams)
- Med-Act Council Advisory Group to upper management
