2007 Salary Ranges – Annual Base
Paramedic
Schedule:
Technical Levels
24 hour shifts: 1 day on, 1 day off, for 3 working shifts; then 4 days off; every 6th work day is a 12 hour shift.
Supervisory Levels
OPS/Field, same as 24 hour shift schedule
OPS/Administrative, 8 hour office schedule
Training, 8 hour office schedule
Benefits
- Vacation: 5 days/year for 24 hr. personnel; 12 days/year for 8 hr. personnel, beginning after 6 months of employment.
- Sick Leave: 132 hours/year for 24 hr. personnel; 96 hours/year for 8 hr. personnel.
- $50.00/month untaxable allocation for Flexible Benefit Plan (i.e. health/dental insurance, deferred compensation, dependent, medical reimbursement bank), or paid in cash (taxable).
- All County personnel receive 9 official holidays and additional floating holidays.
- Double time for working County holidays. 12 hours of comp time is accrued if not scheduled to work on the holiday for technical level personnel. 8 hour personnel are provided traditional holidays for the days recognized by the County.
- Uniforms provided by the department $400.00 annually in employee account for uniform maintenance and replacement.
- Life insurance policy equal to 50% of yearly salary provided by County. Additional group life (term available by payroll deduction.
- Kansas Police and Fire Retirement System.
- Overtime is paid after working 40 hours in a week.
- County matches employee contribution to deferred compensation up to 2.5%.
Merit System
Performance appraisals are conducted annually, and pay raises are based on employee performance.
Paramedics receive 7% merit increases at the end of the first and second year of employment.
Training
The Department provides all recertification hours required by the State. Other affirmations (ACLS, PHTLS, etc.) provided. Tuition reimbursement, up to $1500.00 annually, available for educational expenses related to the employee’s job. |
