Dr. Richardson, better known as “Dr. Ritch”, graduated in 1976 from Western Michigan University with a B.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology. He then attended Kettering College of Medical Arts where he graduated in 1978 in their Physician Assistant program. After working one year on an open-heart surgery team, he enrolled in medical school at Ohio University where he obtained his D.O. degree in 1983. He was Chief Resident in Emergency Medicine at Michigan State University and finished his residency in 1986. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Ritch has practiced full-time emergency medicine in Johnson County since 1986 and has served in various medical directorships for Johnson County Community College EMT and paramedic programs, Johnson County Med-Act and Overland Park Fire Department, Division of EMS. He was a past appointee to the EMS Committee of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is active in the National Association of EMS Physicians.

Dr. Ritch feels privileged to be the first countywide EMS medical director for Johnson County. He believes that there is no greater reward than to help the sick or injured in their time of greatest need. EMS provides that unique opportunity and as such, he is committed to helping our EMS system be second to none.
